In certain situations on public transportation, pairs of seats face each other with limited space between them. A woman or multiple women may cross their legs after sitting, taking up space and preventing others from accessing the front seat. In the USA, a woman refused to remove her purse from the seat on a train, even though she was sitting next to an empty seat. This prevented people from sitting next to her.
