Men who give up their hobbies to pay the dreams of their wife/girlfriend

We have observed that many men abandon their hobbies to pay for their wife or girlfriend’s expenses.

We know several men who had multiple hobbies before getting married, but gave them up while sharing their life with a woman. I think of men who were musicians, car tuning enthusiasts, and those who enjoyed spending money on sports.

Interestingly, I knew men with similar hobbies in the ’90s when I was a teenager. I vividly remember that they used to spend a lot of money on their hobbies back then. They could spend money on synthesizers, guitars, cars, computers, motorcycles, and more. In the ’90s, computers were really expensive compared to today.

Financial Expectations Towards Men

Today, some women expect their husbands to spend money on other expenses like trips to remote destinations, custom kitchens, furniture, hot tubs, gardens, nice cars, big houses, and cottages. I found that many men are forced to give up their hobby to be able to buy the products and services ordered by their wife or girlfriend.

No Hobby Allowed

Furthermore, some women do not allow their husband or boyfriend to have a personal hobby. For example, I remember a woman who didn’t want her boyfriend to play hockey with his friends because she felt excluded. We’ve all heard women say that “the household money goes towards my man’s hobby, it’s crazy.”

Strangely, no one challenges the high expenses triggered by the woman in the relationship. When a wife triggers a $20,000 expense for a swimming pool or a $4,000 expense for a luxurious hot tub, it’s considered acceptable. I never hear people say “this wife is such a heavy spender.”

The result is a situation where the man works and lives for his wife rather than for himself.

Children as an Excuse

Some may argue that there are additional expenses related to children in a family. However, when I visit families with children, I find that most of the big expenses are not necessary for the comfort and education of the children.

I think of the overpriced custom kitchen, expensive holidays, expensive SUVs, expensive swimming pools, custom kitchens, and furniture.

Conclusion

Men have to make a choice. Either they live for themselves or they live for others.
