I spotted and watched the youtube video entitled “why men and women can’t be friends” by patvicious1 on youtube. Here is what I have to say about it.
Analysis:
Interviews of women (or men) are not reliable sources of information since people can
- lie
- tell a partial truth
- misunderstand the question,
- be in denial
- express an opinion that does not match reality.
I’ve got a personal story that ties into this video. Back in my university days, a friend mentioned to me that another female friend thought I was interested in her. Truth is, I wasn’t interested at all. If that female friend were to be interviewed by the guy in the video, she’d probably have said the same thing as the women in the video – that I was into her. But that just wasn’t the case.
The interviewer’s big reaction at the end? Seems like he’s reading too much into things. Interviews can be pretty unreliable.
Now, let’s dig a bit deeper. My take on the video is that the women are trying to boost their sexual market value (SMV) by saying men are after them. It’s all subjective, though.
This reminds me of a manipulation technique I cover in my ebook, “How Toxic Women Manipulate Men” – the power of persuasion.
They’re trying to prove their desirability, which supposedly means they’ve got a high SMV. But here’s the thing: what about the guys hearing these statements, like the interviewer? They tend to freak out, taking everything a woman says as gospel truth without questioning or digging deeper. If they’re buying into their own desirability, it’s like they’re putting all their female friends on a pedestal, hoping for something more than just friendship.
