The chaperone:
A chaperone is a man who serves as a combination of a bodyguard and an accessory for women. Women use him to show that they are accompanied by a man when they go out to social events such as dinners, restaurants, lounge bars, and nightclubs.
It is important not to become a chaperone, as it can come with many constraints such as being forced to drive your female friends home or acting as a bodyguard without receiving any benefits in return.
Being a chaperone is a common and traditional role for men in Western society. Men are often expected to take care of women and act as their protectors. When we think of a “good Samaritan,” we typically think of a man, not a woman.
However, it is important to be aware that some women may use men as chaperones for their own benefit, such as to improve their social image or avoid going out alone.
